Sunset in the mountains. Alone with the nature on Pilsko, Poland

Sunset in the mountains. Alone with the nature on Pilsko, Poland 1 cover

Sunset in the mountains is a very impressive show and I can recommend it to everyone who enjoys being out in the nature and admiring its beauty. We have already tried to see a sunset on Babia mountain this year but the weather planned it differently for us. We ended up seeing no more than one meter ahead, the fog was so dense. Luckily, the evening hike to Pilsko was a success! The trails were completely empty – Friday night is more about drinking various alcoholic beverages rather than climbing some hills for most of the normal people (which we are not!) 🙂 We didn’t mind at all, we could enjoy the silence and peace.

We hiked the yellow trail from Korbielów. Pilsko reaches 1557 meters and it’s is the second highest peak (after Babia mountain) in Beskid Żywiecki mountain range. It’s located on Polish-Slovakian border and its highest point is located on Slovakian side. According to my favorite website for planningthe hikes it should take us more than 3 hours to reach the top. I think that only people with huge, heavy backpacks or small kids would need 3 hours. It took us 2h15 only and I had time to enjoy the photographic “golden hour”. It’s really true that taking pictures when the light is soft and a bit reddish is simply amazing!

It was much colder than we expected though and we didn’t wait for the sunset on top of the mountain. We ran down and found a place where the wind wasn’t so strong. Anyway my hands were so frozen that if it hadn’t been for the sound my camera makes when the picture is taken I wouldn’t have known if I pressed the shutter button already or not… 🙂 Anyway, as I mentioned when I was writing about sunrise inTallinn – some views are really worth freezing for. And I recommend it to you as well!

The views are amazing long after the sunset itself. We wanted to wait for the stars to appear so we went down to Miziowa Coomb from where we could watch the night come to Korbielów.

After the sunset in the mountains. Night coming to Korbielów

Due to the fact that I have been living in cities whole my life I haven’t had many opportunities to see the stars from a place far from civilization. And I must say that this view blew my mind and I fell head over heels in love with the night sky with no light pollution. Even though I failed completely as a night sky photographer because I wasn’t able to take a good picture without a tripod (stones didn’t do the job), I remember this sky full (!) of stars very well. And I will see it more often from now on (especially that I have a tripod now!)

Going down with headlamp’s light only is a unique experience as well. Night forest looks mysterious, a bit scary and simultaneously – calm. I’m glad that the wildlife didn’t do too much noise or they would frighten me for sure. It’s really wise at night to take a trail which you already know because despite the headlamps it’s easy to miss the trail and get lost.To sup up, the sunset in the mountains in an unforgettable experience which I strongly recommend to you all. Stay far from civilization until the stars appear. It’s really worth it.

Dorota, the sunset photos are truly spectacular and beautiful. I especially enjoy the calm and peace of mind while waiting for a nice sunrise or sunset. I don’t like the fact that some people go all that way with their cameras and equipment merely there to capture a photo and say they get a good shot and then oh well time to leave. The fact that you able to enjoy all that around you while you were there shows your ability to get in touch with the world around you. You experienced the sunset and all it had to give; you captured it’s heart, essence and beauty through your thoughts and photographs.

Thank you, I’m really glad you like my pictures!
It was a great experience to see the sunset in the mountins. I also enjoyed hiking up the mountain in the evening because we didn’t meet anybody on our way. The atmosphere in the mountains at night is very special, it’s totally different than during the day. I haven’t experienced this before.

Yes I would really agree, I really enjoy it when there isn’t a lot of people around. That’s one reason I would prefer to run trails at night. There is an energy and excitement that you don’t get when it’s daylight.
