Who else wants to find the best viewpoint of the Grand Canyon?

Who else wants to find the best viewpoint of the Grand Canyon? cover 9

The Grand Canyon. It’s already today, you will see it in a minute! You get to the South Rim and you almost run to the first viewpoint. Finally it appears. The Great Hole In The Ground. Your jaw literally drops and you’re standing there with your mouth open thinking that it’s the most beautiful, impressive thing you have ever seen. That it can’t get any better.

Apparently, it can.

Because even though the Grand Canyon looks breathtaking from all possible points like many outstanding US national parks, it amazed me the most on one of them.

The best viewpoint in the Grand Canyon – research!

Let me repeat – there are no bad viewpoints in the Grand Canyon. On each and every one of them you want to take at least a hundred pictures. And then you’re not able to delete any of them because they are all so beautiful!

At first you hike the Rim Trail from Mather Point to Maricopa Point. You planned on going further but you ran out of time after stopping every few steps to take a picture. And one more. And another. One more, last one! Ok, this one is last!

The next day you go down to the Plateau Point – as far down the canyon as you can go in one day.

On your third day you go to the famous Ooh Aah Point. You almost make the sounds that inspired the point’s name.

Each and every one of them makes you more amazed and enchanted with this extraordinary place. You’re thinking that it REALLY can’t get any better. EVER.

And when you are leaving the Grand Canyon, you pass another viewpoint. You decide to stop to look at it one last time. You are sad to leave it because you are not sure when you will see each other again. And it turns out that by chance, you have just discovered the most beautiful view at the Grand Canyon.

Desert View Point – the best viewpoint in the Grand Canyon.

Desert View Point was also one of the most crowded viewpoints in the Grand Canyon I have seen. Luckily, there is a path going below the concrete viewing platform and if you go there, the amazing view is only yours. I really do not understand why people don’t go down there but wait in line and try to get their spot near the barrier to take a picture.

Go down. And admire…

Desert View Point is definitely one of the best, the most beautiful viewpoint we have been to in the Grand Canyon. The view is breathtaking, the Canyon almost surrounds you. You can see the Colorado river and watch it disappear in the deep canyon. And you can escape the crowds easily. All other viewpoints we visited lack these features. Desert View Point is located 40 km (25mi) east from South Rim Visitors Center and unfortunately there’s no shuttle service to this place. But if you have a car, go there, you will find it easily. And watch out. People look stupid standing there with their mouth open… 🙂
